Leveraging AI & Experts to Navigate Compliance Risks & E-Discovery
14:00PM - 15:00PM
Big Data presents itself as a major challenge during a compliance audit, government investigation and dispute between private parties. Businesses need processes in place to navigate the risks involved when managing the large volumes of data it has produced and currently stores within its enterprise. All this data is a source of risk and reward. It is a risk when you don't know what the data says about your organization when involved in a cyber-security breach or an investigation requiring the production of your data in a litigation (E-Discovery). It can also be a source of reward that unlocks a great deal of insight into your organization. In this panel we will discuss how to leverage the most cutting edge technologies in artificial intelligence, data analytics and specialized experts. Questions addressed during this panel deal with to what extent are governments using technology when conducting their investigations, what monitoring tools are enterprises leveraging to detect bad behavior, what are some of the advancements in today's machine learning software, and finally whether machine learning can keep up in a world where IoT enabled devices will create an unimaginable amount of data. This panel is ideal for in-house corporate counsel and law firms interested in getting up to speed on the latest technologies and techniques involved in reviewing, assessing and recommending effective workflows when faced with big data challenges.
15:00PM - 15:15PM

Lastly we will discuss some of the most recent changes in data privacy implemented in Japan and Europe and how this impacts businesses worldwide.

E-Discovery & Legal Translations: Will Robots Replace Lawyers?
16:30PM - 17:30PM
Will robots replace lawyers and translators? Translations play a key role in legal disputes, investigations and cross border business transactions. But what exactly does translation mean? This panel will discuss how to appropriately leverage bilingual experts during large-scale investigations involving multiple languages and complex fact patterns. Is simply translating the source language of the data into the language understood by the litigation team the answer? Does machine translation work? Our expert panelists will offer their insight into common problems they have faced and how to protect against inaccuracies and inadvertent disclosures when dealing with multi-lingual content. Furthermore, we will discuss new developments in machine learning, neural networks, translation mistakes, and provide a prognosis of what the future holds. While the common understanding is that languages such as Japanese is a hard language to translate, our panel will offer varying perspectives from professional translators, machine learning experts and bilingual Attorneys.
